Facility
Development Projects for the Orphanage
The
number of children has more than doubled to over 70 children over the past 4
years, from young infants to teenagers. The physical facility was never
intended to provide a home for so many children. There are significant problems
with both the quality and quantity of living space. We have made some progress but more needs to be done. On the
left is the old sleeping area for 20 of the children that is dark and
crowded.
A youth
group from Genensis Methodist Church saw this need and came to Guatemala to
help. The result is obvious in the
next pictures. The walls were painted
with charactures on the walls; bunk beds were sanded, varnished and put
together. The beds were placed on the outside walls of each room, providing
open living space and individual drawers were built that provided a little
private space for each child. Two separate dormitories were renewed with 11
bunk beds in each, allowing 44 children to have many nights of dreamful
sleep.
The
orphanage as many other areas that are in bad need for repair and improvement
over the next several years. On the
following pages we will highlight some of these projects that will need
funding and mission construction teams to complete as has been done with the
dormitories.
Maybe
your church group or other group would like to help? We need financial help,
donation of materials and supplies, new ideas and most importantly prayers to
help these children.
Please
Consider Participating in one of our Development Projects. It will help the children at the orphanage
grow up in a better home environment and increase their chance to become
successful adults.
